ADENOMectomy da vinci robotic surgery

Surgical PROSTATE TREATMENT (adenoma)
THE ROBOTIC SURGERY CENTRE - ST. ZDISLAVA HOSPITAL

Adenoma of the prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia) is a common diagnosis in men 50 years and older. By the age of 80 there is a 90% chance of a man developing prostatic adenoma.

Despite the fact that prostate adenoma is a benign mass, there is still a high likelihood that the patient will develop prostate cancer. Surgeons therefore recommend treatment in good time and, if necessary, to have the tumour removed.

The growth of adenoma of the prostate affects the quality of life and lifestyle of the man. Chronic urinary retention increases the risk of infection and inflammation, the development of urolithiasis, the development of renal failure and many other diseases.

At the Centre for Robotic Surgery at St. Zdislava Hospital in the Czech Republic, more than 1,000 operations using the DaVinci robotic surgery system are performed successfully each year.

Surgery with the daVinci robot is currently the most effective way to treat prostate cancer or anenocarcinoma of the prostate. After the operation, the physiological functions of the body are not affected: natural urination and an erection are maintained. The patient hardly loses any blood during the operation. The operation is done through four small incisions (1 cm), so the patient does not have a big stitch like a cavity operation, and there is no pronounced pain after the operation.

In addition, unlike other treatments (radiation, chemotherapy, abdominal surgery, etc.), surgery using the DaVinci robot has the highest success rate in curing prostate cancer as well as the highest patient survival rate.

Advantages of surgery with the daVinci robot

The daVinci robot is the most effective treatment for prostate adenoma.

  • Highest cure rate.
  • The operation allows natural urination and an erection.
  • There is no blood loss during the operation.
  • Because the operation is done through four incisions (1 cm), the patient has no large stitches or significant pain.
  • Unlike other treatment methods (radiation, chemotherapy, abdominal surgery, etc.) the da Vinci robot system surgery has the highest success rate in curing cancer completely, and has the highest survival rate in patients with malignant tumours.

Minimally invasive prostate removal with the daVinci robot (2023) at St. Zdislava Hospital is performed by the team of surgeons and urologists at the Centre for Robotic Surgery. We have performed more than 5,500 operations on the daVinci robot. We perform 1000 robotic surgeries per year. The surgeries are performed by Professor Ivan Colombo and Associate Professor Jan Doležel.
